Terms of Use

Please read these terms before continuing.

RICARDO TERMS OF USE Version: 2026-10-14-v1. Effective October 14, 2026. 1. Who we are; scope Ricardo is operated by Developing Trade LLC, a New York limited liability company (the Company, we, us). Contact: ben@developing-trade.com. These terms apply to visitors, beta testers, Free users, and paying Pro subscribers. By expressly accepting them, you agree to these terms. You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding agreement. If acting for an organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind it. Reading these terms, the privacy notice, and accessing account recovery or subscription cancellation does not require acceptance. 2. Research information; no advice Ricardo provides general trade data, analytical tools, model estimates, visualizations, and research outputs for informational and research purposes. Nothing provided through Ricardo constitutes investment, financial, legal, tax, customs, regulatory, or other professional advice, or a recommendation to enter a transaction, enter or exit a market, invest, procure, set prices, or adopt a policy. Use does not establish an advisory, fiduciary, or consulting relationship. Any separately commissioned consulting engagement requires a separate written agreement. 3. Independent judgment and commercial decisions You are responsible for your interpretations, independent verification, professional advice where appropriate, and all commercial, investment, policy, and other decisions made using the service. Do not use an output as the sole basis for a decision. Before relying on an output, check its source, vintage, coverage, units, classifications, assumptions, and limitations against authoritative information. Estimates, comparisons, scenarios, rankings, and forecasts are not guarantees of outcomes. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Company is not liable for losses arising from decisions taken or not taken in reliance on the service or its outputs, subject to the mandatory exceptions in section 9. 4. Data, models, and availability Data may be incomplete, estimated, revised, delayed, inconsistent across sources, or erroneous. Model outputs depend on assumptions and may change with data or software revisions. We do not warrant accuracy, completeness, timeliness, fitness for a particular decision, uninterrupted availability, or error-free operation. The service and outputs are provided as available and as is, to the maximum extent permitted by law. Beta features are experimental and may change or be withdrawn. Preserve your downloaded work; Ricardo is not an archival storage service. 5. Accounts and acceptable use Keep your credentials confidential. Individual subscriptions are for one named person; do not share accounts, transfer access without permission, evade access controls, abuse download limits, disrupt the service, or access other users' data. We may verify unusual sign-ins and restrict concurrent sessions. Use the service lawfully and respect applicable third-party data licences. Reasonable access limits may apply to preserve availability. We may suspend access for security threats, nonpayment, or material breach, and provide notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue where practicable. 6. Outputs and intellectual property The Company and its licensors retain their rights in the software, branding, documentation, and underlying materials. Subject to your plan and applicable source licences, you may use downloaded outputs in your research, policy work, presentations, and commercial reports, with Ricardo and original-provider attribution and relevant vintage and limitations preserved. A subscription does not grant unrestricted redistribution or resale rights in third-party datasets or the service. Source-specific rights and restrictions continue to apply; nothing here narrows rights independently granted by a source licence. Do not imply endorsement by Ricardo or a data provider. 7. Free, beta, and paid access Free access and beta grants carry no subscription charge. A complimentary Pro year begins on activation as shown in your account; it does not require a payment card and does not automatically convert to a paid subscription. At expiry, the account returns to Free unless a separate paid entitlement applies. The stated grant duration does not guarantee uninterrupted service or continued operation of an experimental product. Paid Pro pricing, billing interval, taxes, and renewal terms are displayed before checkout. Paid subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. Cancel through Manage billing before the next renewal to prevent the next charge; access continues through the paid period. Unless required by law or expressly agreed, unused portions of a billing period are not refundable. If we permanently discontinue a paid service without an equivalent replacement, we will refund the unused prepaid portion. We will give advance notice of price changes before they apply to a future renewal. Mandatory cancellation, refund, and consumer rights prevail. 8. Privacy and feedback Our separate Privacy Notice describes account, security, usage, download, and feedback information we collect and how we use it. Terms acceptance does not opt you into marketing. We may use suggestions to improve Ricardo without an obligation to compensate you; this does not transfer ownership of your research or confidential materials. Do not submit sensitive or confidential information through general feedback. 9. Limitation of liability TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE COMPANY AND ITS OFFICERS, MEMBERS, EMPLOYEES, AND CONTRACTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, BUSINESS, OPPORTUNITIES, ANTICIPATED SAVINGS, GOODWILL, OR DATA, OR FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THEIR POSSIBILITY. SUBJECT TO THE EXCEPTIONS BELOW, THEIR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF US$100 AND THE FEES YOU PAID FOR RICARDO IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. These provisions apply whether the claim arises in contract, tort (including ordinary negligence), or otherwise. Nothing excludes or limits liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, or any other liability or remedy that applicable law does not permit to be excluded or limited. Mandatory consumer protections remain unaffected. 10. Changes and termination We will identify each terms version and require renewed affirmative acceptance of updated terms before further product use. Changes operate prospectively and do not retrospectively remove accrued rights. If you decline new terms, you may stop using the service and cancel renewal without accepting them; mandatory refund rights remain available. Provisions concerning accrued payments, intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, and dispute resolution survive termination to the extent relevant. 11. Governing law and disputes These terms are governed by New York law, without its conflict-of-laws rules. Subject to mandatory rights to bring claims elsewhere, disputes will be heard in the state or federal courts in New York County, New York. Contact us first to attempt informal resolution; doing so does not restrict urgent relief or statutory deadlines. No mandatory arbitration or class-action waiver is included. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
